Money. Always an issue, especially these days, and often a focal point of contention in personal relationships. Becky is now dating Victor, who while rich still watches every penny (see Chapter 8 of her memoir, Beyond the Great Abyss). Problems ensue as Victor, traumatized by an earlier disaster, gives “cheap” new meaning in his efforts to control his life, and Becky does not feel valued.
What is your relationship to money? We all need some money, but beyond the minimum, what does money mean to you? Security? Status? Control? Over your life, or over others? Do you use money as a weapon? Does money get mixed up with love in your life? (See Workbook Introduction for how to use this workbook, which is being posted on this blog, one chapter per week).
Intuition Development Exercise: Intuition often communicates with symbols which can carry many levels and great meaning in a single image. After considering the questions above, try meditating on the meaning of money in your life. Perhaps play some gentle, soothing music while you meditate to allow the deeper parts of yourself to come to the surface. What images come to your mind? Can you draw a picture of what money means to you?
Homeopathic of the Week: Homeopathic Opium: Victor takes this remedy for his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with great positive effect. This is a standard usage of this remedy, along with treating the opposite mental state as well. See Homeopathic Appendix for explanation of dosage (no measurable amounts of opium molecules are used, only its energy)
The Mental State: Complaints from fright. Aggravation or renewed fright on every recollection of the original frightening event. All senses very acute. Or, blissful, peaceful, drowsy, sensuous, dream-like states. Stupor and coma. Somnambulism (sleep-walking).
Common Physical Signs: Warm-blooded and symptoms aggravated by heat, also from fright. Anesthesia – painlessness of normally painful complaints. Narcolepsy. Injury to head. Face flushed deep red. Pupils constricted, or dilated. Respiration slow, noisy, obstructed. Snoring. Sleep heavy, stuporous and difficult to disturb, or sleeplessness. Sleep apnea.
Natural Health Tip: Want to sleep through the night and be calmer and happier during the day? Potatoes Not Prozac is a simple diet that increases and maintains high levels of serotonin in your brain – the neurotransmitter that most antidepressant drugs are aiming at. This diet is effective especially for mild to moderate depression and insomnia, starts working immediately, and it is completely safe and all natural. I explain the basics of it in my nutrition appendix, or follow the Potatoes Not Prozac link above to buy the book and learn the details. Try it, you’ll like it!
