The workout of champions:
- Whole body vibration (WBV) was originally developed for Olympic athletes in Russia in the 1970’s.
- Numerous research studies have shown that on a powerful vibration machine 10 minutes of whole body vibration = 1 hour of conventional weight training in terms of increasing explosive muscle strength, bone density, metobolic rate (weight loss), flexibility, balance and coordination.
- Now used by most professional sports teams and elite competitors around the world. For examples check the “Whole Body Vibration Users” section of Vibrant Health’s WBV page.
- Almost anybody can use WBV. It is very easy to adapt workouts to any level, in fact if you just stand on the machine, which feels like a massage, you will still be getting stronger.
How WBV rapidly increases explosive muscle strength:
- WBV is an intensive workout. Vibration rates for exercising are usually 20 – 40 times per second. Involuntarily all your muscle fibers will tense and relax at that same rate. This creates 2-3000 tiny but effective reps/min.
- Holding weight against vibration increases the gravitational forces. Effectively your muscles will be holding 2-3 times your body weight (depending on the amplitude of the vibration).
- 100% of the targeted muscle fibers will be activated, because 100% of your neurons will fire. Usually only a fraction of the targeted muscle fibers will activate, for example in a squat only about 40% of your leg muscles are actually working.
- The neurological stimulation causes the rapid growth and connections of neurons to more muscle fibers. After three weeks of vibration training more muscle fibers will respond when those muscles are used.
How to get the best results:
- Use a Body Vibe machine. All Body Vibes are designed with a holistic perspective to best support all aspects of your system (mind, body and spirit): muscular/skeletal and physical body, nervous system, and energetic fields. Consult with naturopath Becca Chambers for the best model and program for you. Other more powerful machines should be avoided. They achieve more power by using two motors. Two motors are desynchronizing for your nervous system and your energy field – very detrimental, especially long-term.
- Target different muscle groups by changing positions on the Body Vibe. For example, a squat position will cause the leg muscle to work, while a push-up position with one’s hands on the vibration plate and feet off, will work the arm and shoulder muscles.
- Do one minute intervals in different positions. In ten minutes you will have gotten a full-body workout.
- Use a holistic approach incorporating nutrition, nutritional supplements and homeopathy, as well as lots of WBV.
