As Chapter 9 of her memoir, Beyond the Great Abyss opens, Becky is dating Victor, a charismatic James Bond type character. But like Sean Connery, Victor has a dark side. Sean Connery has been accused of abuse by his ex-wife, and buried rage from a devastating injustice many years earlier percolates deep inside Victor.
Becky is advised by her cousins to, “Run for your life… these guys never change,” but she is not so sure of that, and not willing to give him up. Her own experience of transformation through energy therapies and life experiences has given her a deep belief in the ability of people to grow and change, especially when aided by homeopathy and whole body vibration.
What do you think leads to personal growth? What helps or hinders it? Can love help, or is it a trap? Do we have control over our lives? (See Workbook Introduction for how to use this workbook, which is being posted on this blog, one chapter per week).
Intuition Development Exercise: Think of times of great change in your life; pivotal moments, or slower periods of development that none the less led to change. List these moments and then the factors that helped and hindered you in making these changes: caring and loving relationships, hurtful relationships perhaps that spurred you into change, personal goals, focus, determination, insights, knowledge, self-confidence…. Now, choose some area in your life that still needs help and meditate asking Spirit, “What do I need, or what can I do, to help me fix this situation?”
Homeopathic of the Week: Lycopodium: Keynote: Impotence (in the mind as well as possibly physical) . As with all homeopathic types, only some of the characteristic mental and physical states listed below will be expressed in any one individual – see Homeopathy Appendix.
The Mental State: Problems of self-esteem and low confidence. Either becomes very shy, introverted and with many fears, or compensates for inner lack of confidence by bullying, domineering, arrogant behavior. Intellectual and withdrawn. Anxiety about health, conflicts, career. Weeps from sentimental events. Stage fright. Fears of ghosts, cancer, being alone, people, commitment and marriage.
Common Physical Signs: Right-sided problems. General aggravation of problems 3 pm to 7 pm. Deep furrows of the brow or jowls. Craves sweets, cold drinks. Bloated abdomen. Wakes at night to eat. Bulimia. Sexual promiscuity, adultery. Impotence.
Natural Health Tip: “Affirmations” are a good way to help increase your self-confidence. I particularly like the 5 Animal Exercises in Dr. Stephen Chang’s book of Tao exercises, The Complete System of Self-Healing: Internal Exercises. They combine chi increasing energy exercises with imaginative and fun affirmations, complete with physical poses to help you fully envision yourself and connect to the universal energy.
For example, The Dragon: Stand on one leg with the other leg bent and that foot on the first knee (or keep second foot on the ground as needed for balance). Stretch one arm straight out to the front. Point the other arm to the back but bend it sharply at the elbow so your hand is by your cheek. Curl your fingers into claws and imagine you are (and say all of this out loud while doing the exercise) a fierce, imperial dragon, flying through thunderstorms breathing fire. You are the embodiment of supreme power, control, wisdom, and social effectiveness!
Now, do this exercise on your Body Vibe, where there is hundreds of times more energy generated and available to send through your body; and do it every day along with the other 4 animal exercises (The Tiger, The Bear, The Eagle, and the Monkey), powering up other energy pathways in your mind and body (in Chinese medicine these are your energy meridians). You will be invincible! And have a lot of fun, too, while you are at it.
